Fourth meeting of all Partners institutions participating in Joint Tempus project “Restructuring of Study Programme in Architecture to Long-Cycle Integrated Master in line with EU standards” was held in Ljubljana, at the Faculty of Architecture and in Goriska Brda, Slovenia.
Topics of the meeting in Ljubljana were:
Analysis and revision of new curriculum,
Preparation of the material for National accreditation,
Exchange of experience in international collaboration, quality of architectural education, library updating and students mobility and
New scientific journal Creativity Game founded by Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana.
In Goriska Brda, we participated in 1st Slovenian scientific conference on medicine, architecture and urbanism “Man and Space”, where our two Mitrovica team members presented their research on contemporary debates in architectural education.
Meeting in Lubljana was organized by Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, while the conference in Brda was organized by University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Architecture, General Hospital of Dr Franc Derganc in Nova Gorica, Sempeter, Nova Gorica, The Municipality of Brda, Dobrovo, Goriska Brda and Hotel Venko, Dobrovo, Goriska Brda.

Day 1 – 10th of October 2013
Meeting was opened by our host from Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, Prof. Alenka Fikfak. The Dean, Prof. Gabrijeličič, gave welcome speech and small discourse about the Ljubljana school concept. Prof. Tadej Glažar spoke about international cooperation of Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana and gave special attention to international workshops, one of the most important forms of architectural education.
Prof. Dragan Komatina presented new school programe in Podgorica School of Architecture. MsC Branislav Folić, in front of Department of Architecture, Faculty of Technical Sciences in Kosovska Mitrovica, did the same. Vivid discussion followed these presentations; several topics were raised, among them: ratio between different architectural fields that should be present in architectural curriculum, accordance with European Directive on regulated professions, ratio between elective and compulsory courses and national differences, national regulations, professors’ engagement in curriculum – distribution of hours and classes etc.
Prof. Tadeja Zupančič spoke about accreditation process and doctoral studies and Prof. Ilka Čerpes about monitoring and verification of the quality of teaching.
Mitja Blaganje, Secretary at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana took all participants for a tour through the facility. We visited several lecture and studio classes, library, modeling workshop, dean’s office, and cafeteria where we head a friendly chat and working lunch.
Presentation of new scientific Journal, named Creativity Game, followed in the afternoon. The journal publishes articles from various fields of science and engineering. Two members of our Mitrovica team have been participating with their original scientific paper in this first volume of the journal.
Walking city tour with emphasis on Plečnik’s architecture, guided by prof. Ilka Čerpes, followed upon completion of official part of the 1st day meetings.
Day 2 – 11th of October 2013
On the second day of meeting, we spoke about the process of accreditation and shared national experiences. Mojca Rozman from Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana spoke about electronic services and data base for students and educators at their Faculty. Matevz Juvančič shared with us the experience on Erasmus program. Every topic was followed by discussion and opinion exchange, with all present participant involved.
Second day meeting was concluded by Coordinator Dragan Komatina. Following activities and responsibilities in project were launched.
After the meeting, snack and friendly chat, we took departure to Brda to the opening of the 1st Slovenian conference on medicine, architecture and urbanism, named Man and Space. Upon opening, we had a chance to hear several interesting exposures, first of them from the Dean of Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, Prof. Peter Gabrijeličić, who spoke about Aesthetics of The Environment as a Macroeconomic Category.
Day 3 – 12th of October
Conference continued on the second day of our stay in Brda and the third day of our Tempus Joint Meeting. Several thematic sessions were organized in the same time, and we were attending the one in which two members of our Mitrovica Team had their presentation on Contemporary Debates in Architectural Education. Presented paper was the result of our Tempus research on new school and its preferable form and content.
Upon the closure of the Conference, our Slovenian hosts organized tour through several locations in Goriska Brda region.
Day 4 – 13th of October 2013
Out Fourth Tempus RESARCH Meeting was concluded. As agreed, next meeting will be held in Athens, in spring 2014. Upon closing official duties, our hosts took us for a tour to a nearby Italian town Cividale, where we had a chance to meet with some architectural highlights.
